CS orders commissioners to take stern action against profiteers

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput directed divisional commissioners to take stern action against profiteers. Presiding over meeting on prices control of essential commodities in province he said that provincial government has sufficient stock of wheat available and it would continue supplying wheat flour at subsidised rates to people.

“Besides this administration should control open market rate of flour and take action against profiteers,” he said. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also gave instructions to control flour prices.

 He directed all divisional commissioners to visit subsidised flour points established by district administration and food department. He said that security should also be ensured at flour points.

It was decided that crackdown would be initiated across province against alleged hoarding by flour mills and 100 percent grading of wheat released by government should be ensured.

Food Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla via video link said that subsidised flour points had also been increased across province, 64 points had been set up in Karachi Division where five vehicles would be placed at every point. Secretary Food Raja Khurram Shahzad Umar said that action was being taken against District Food Officer MirpurKhas. Chief Secretary ordered secretary food to hold meeting with mill owners and fix market price of flour.
