ISLAMABAD: Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail said credit of agreement with IMF goes to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. "He talked to US in connection with IMF programme", Miftah said in statement issued here said. He said that way of working of government is so outdated that no work can be done.
Pakistan was saved from going default due to IMF programme, he said adding 3 governments will come during IMF programme. Present government, caretaker government and next government will implement IMF programme. Government needs to further increase electricity and gas prices.
Under IMF programme, there is no room for any mistake now. We will have to abide by what agreement has reached with IMF. As per agreement tariff of gas and electricity will have to be increased. Be it present government or caretaker government they will have to scale up tariff. There is no other way except increasing tariff to curtail deficit, he remarked.
