CPEC epic manifestation of partnership between Pakistan, China: NA Speaker

ISLAMABAD: Speaker of National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an epic manifestation of ironclad friendship between two countries.

Addressing launch ceremony of All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association (APCEA) sustainable development report 2022, he said project was mutually beneficial for both countries rather than whole region could reap benefits from project owing to its viability.

SDGs Secretariat of National Assembly of Pakistan in collaboration with APCEA at Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services organised event.

He said CPEC project’s continuing second phase shifted its emphasis to Pakistani education industry, economics, infrastructure and sustainability including opening of technical education institutions and initiation and expansion of student exchange programmes.

Wang Jie, Executive Vice Chairman APCEA and CEO of Bank of China Limited Pakistan Operations elucidated vital need for realising importance of sustainable development and taking all possible corrective actions. He expressed APCEA’s beliefs about terms, “Sustainability” and “sustainable development” which go beyond generating renewable energy.

Romina Khurshid Alam Convener National Parliamentary Taskforce on SDGs stated that with “Pakistan’s youth bulge in mind and Phase II of CPEC, there is need to prioritise construction of new schools, technical and vocational training facilities and higher education institutions while also renovating existing ones”.

She stated that CPEC projects have unleashed opportunities for socio-economic development for people of Pakistan.

Chen Yen CEO of Challenge Fashion Private Limited remarked that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is an economic marvel of its time. Actual benefits of CPEC are innumerable for region and are not only related to economy but shall also help Pakistan in achieving economic growth propelled by green development.
