Courts facing issues in decisions due to poor police investigation: SC

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has maintained during hearing of case against transfers of police officers on political basis that courts have to face problems in decision of cases due to substandard investigation of police.

Court ordered to appoint experienced and expert officers in investigation into criminal cases. Court ordered police of all provinces and Islamabad police to ensure implementation of police order-2002.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial took up case for hearing.

Governments of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and KP filed report about transfers of police in court. Islamabad Police could not file details about posting and transfer.

CJP remarked problem of non-provision of funds was mentioned in all reports filed by police. Even vehicles are not made available to police for investigation. Court be informed about funds released to police.

Justice Athar Minallah inquired when last meeting of National Police Board was held. Problems are being faced in police investigation in provinces due to non-holding of national police board meetings.

Court while calling details of transfers from Islamabad police adjourned hearing of case for one month.
