ISLAMABAD: A district and Sessions Court here rejected Awami Muslim League Chief Sheikh Rasheed’s bail application in case pertaining to his remarks against former President and co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party Asif Ali Zardari.

Sheikh Rasheed’s lawyer Sardar Abdul Razzaq, plaintiff’s lawyer and prosecutor appeared in court of Judicial Magistrate Umar Shabbir. AML Chief’s lawyer, referring to Rasheed’s statement said his client had only repeated claims made by Imran Khan regarding Zardari. Lawyer added that on February 6, high court summoned police, but police had registered case. “Instead of investigating Zardari, case has been registered against Sheikh Rasheed,” he said.

“No authorised officer has registered case. A case was registered against Sheikh Rasheed on private complaint.  Later, plaintiff’s lawyer argued that Imran also made allegation against Zardari and questioned why he was not included in case. Judicial Magistrate passing decision remarked that AML Chief can file an application for election nomination forms. However, court will make decision after reviewing prison laws.
