RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench ordered regional police officer Rawalpindi to immediately recover and release former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed within week and submit report in this regard in court.

Court adjourned hearing of case till October 2. RPO Khurram Ali appeared in court and expressed his ignorance about kidnappers. He sought one week's time for recovery of senior politician.

Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench Justice Sadaqat Ali heard petition filed against detention of former Interior Minister Rasheed. RPO attended case hearing.

Court asked RPO about progress in case. Police officer replied that Rasheed was not in custody of Rawalpindi police. He further told court that place from where Rasheed was detained did not fall in their jurisdiction.

Rasheed's lawyer said AML head was arrested by Rawalpindi police and they had proofs about that. Court said, "Are you ready to give us in writing that Rasheed is not with you? If he is recovered from Rawalpindi in future, case will be filed against you." However, RPO sought one week time from court. Court then gave RPO one week time for recovery and release of senior politician and two other people and adjourned case hearing till October 2.
