ISLAMABAD: Special Judge Central Islamabad issued permanent arrest warrants for PTI leader Azam Swati in controversial tweets case. Court said that despite fact that PTI leader had been declared proclaimed offender (PO), he had been skipping court appearances for long time. Hitherto, court had initiated proceedings to declare Swati PO.

Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand, issuing warrants ordered Federal Investigation Agency to arrest and produce suspect whenever and wherever they found him. It was on May 30, 2023, that special court in Islamabad had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI leader Azam Swati at request of Federal Investigation Agency.

Warrants were issued after Swati failed to appear before court for indictment in controversial tweets case. Swati's lawyer told court that he was not in contact with his client, and opposed Special Prosecutor Rizwan Abbasi's request for issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI leader.

Lawyer for FIA, on other hand was of view that Swati did not appear before court intentionally.

Later, Court issued warrants against Swati.
