Court fixes Feb 7 to indict Imran Khan in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: District Sessions Court decided to indict Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan for criminal trial in Toshakhana case on February 7. Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal formally summoned Imran in person to frame charges in case filed by District Election Commissioner Islamabad seeking criminal proceedings against him for allegedly concealing information about Toshakhana gifts with ECP.

Outset of hearing, judge inquired from Imran Khan’s counsel Ali Bokhari Advocate about power of attorney. Ali Bokhari said he had submitted medical report of his client on date of last hearing.

Election Commission of Pakistan’s lawyer, however said power of attorney could not be presented until Imran Khan appeared before court in person and also till submission of surety bonds. He prayed court to issue Imran Khan’s arrest warrants for failing to appear. Court, however adjourned case till February 7 and again summoned Imran Khan to frame charges against him.
