Court extends Buzdar’s bail till May 6 in assets beyond means case

LAHORE: An accountability court Lahore accepted plea of former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar for exemption from personal appearance and extended his interim bail till May 6 next in assets beyond means case.

Khurshid Alam Advocate appeared on behalf of Usman Buzdar and informed court about latter’s appearance before Lahore High Court (LHC) for protective bail in anti-corruption case. “Government wants to arrest Usman Buzdar in anti-corruption case. He should be exempted from personal appearance before court,” he pleaded.

Accountability Court judge Sajjad Ahmed Sheikh heard bail plea. Court also sought investigation report from National Accountability Bureau at next hearing, directing Usman Buzdar to become part of investigation.

Also, Usman Buzdar approached LHC to get details of cases. He, in his plea, made Anti-Corruption Establishment director general, Punjab inspector general of police and others respondents. After approval of LHC chief justice, Usman Buzdar’s plea will be fixed for hearing today.
