Court approves 2-day physical remand of Azam Swati to FIA

ISLAMABAD: A local court approved two-day physical remand of PTI leader Azam Swati pertaining to his arrest over controversial statements against state institution. Earlier, Swati was produced before judicial magistrate, after being arrested by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
PTI leader was taken into custody from his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad a suburb in Islamabad by three-member FIA team, hours after his party staged power-show in neighbouring city of Rawalpindi. FIA has registered first information report on complaint of state through Islamabad Cyber Crime Reporting Centre Technical Assistant Aneesur Rehman.
FIA in a letter to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani informed arrest of PTI Senator Azam Swati in connection with ‘obnoxious’ statements against state institution. According to Agency, copy of latest FIR has also been attached with letter. FIA claimed that Senator was arrested subject to approval of authorities concerned.
