Contestants attract 37th Japanese Speech Contest with 6-month Japanese Language Study

Karachi: 37th Japanese Language Speech Contest was held at Japan Information and Culture Centre, jointly organised by Consulate General of Japan in Karachi and Pakistan Japanese Cultural Association Sindh (PJCA).
Seven Pakistani students from different levels of Japanese language courses participated in speech contest.
PJCA President Sadia Rashid said that learning foreign language is not an easy task, but she hopes that young people will learn to appreciate country's culture and way of thinking through language study and gain broader perspective and experience for their own personal growth.
Toshio Odagiri, Consul General of Japan in Karachi addressed participants, expressing his great expectations and interest in competition and his surprise that speech topics chosen by contestants were all very challenging and interesting. Consul General said that some of contestants may go on to study at Japanese universities or work for Japanese companies in future, but whatever path they take, he hoped that they will play an active role in helping country and its people and that they will serve as bridge between Pakistan and Japan.
All of contestants demonstrated their excellent Japanese language skills, which they have cultivated over past six months of study and captivated audience. Judges were overwhelmed by high level of speeches of contestants and praised them. Certificates and prizes were awarded to speech contest participants and Japanese language learners.
