Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb responded to resignations of Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, declaring alleged conspiracy bench against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had reached its conclusion.

Addressing media, she claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding Chairman Imran Khan had previously threatened judges involved in case. She questioned integrity of resigning judges, stating, “Can you remove stain on your feet by resigning? Can one be absolved from all accounts by resigning?”

Accusing Justice Ijazul Ahsan of being responsible for inflation in country, spokesperson argued that resignations were an attempt to divert attention from alleged misuse of power and mockery made of Supreme Court and its chair during trial.

She suggested that resigning judges could potentially redeem themselves in eyes of public. Referring to time when titles like ‘Sicilian Mafia’ and ‘Godfather’ were used, she asserted that those who were demanding accountability at that time were now reluctant to give an account even for single day.

Aurangzeb concluded press conference by asserting that political landscape was witnessing frustration and anger from all sides, especially as Nawaz Sharif aimed for comeback. She labeled act of resigning as “Cowardly” and criticised founder of PTI for not addressing intra-party election concerns, suggesting that party was accustomed to seeking results through courts.

Spokesperson referenced discovery of diamonds during Justice Ijazul Hassan’s tenure as monitoring judge in Panama case and claimed that reference against Mazahar Naqvi remained in field, signaling an apparent reluctance to return it.
