RAWALPINDI: Commenting on prevailing economic crisis, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed Chief of Awami Muslim League said that poor had been pushed into quagmire as ordinary man was helpless with only elite living a life according to their terms and conditions.

Rasheed in message posted on X said taxes should have been imposed on elite but instead poor were chosen for purpose. Middle class had been completely crushed and didn’t know how to survive, he remarked.

He said poverty and hunger did not ask to which political party they belonged before hitting family. How masses would ensure income to meet food needs, pay rent and provide education to their children, AML head asked.

Former Interior Minister also questioned how an industrial and agriculture revolution would materialise amid skyrocketing prices of electricity and petrol, adding that gas tariff was also to be increased by September-end.

Rasheed said some decisions are made on earth with others in “Heavens” and some decisions from “Heavens” could also come into effect before elections without elaborating use of heavens.

He termed survival as biggest problem currently faced by common men, saying that timing of polls was of secondary importance.
