Commissioner Karachi in action, slaps over Rs0.1 million fine on 196 profiteers

KARACHI: Rs 194,000 fine was imposed against 196 profiteers on 7th of Ramadhan while a shop in district Korangi was also sealed under campaign against commodity price violators.
Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon supervised campaign, according to statement issued. He directed all deputy commissioners and concerned officials of district administration and bureau of supply department to keep continue campaign initiated by city administration to ensure essential food items available to common men during holy month of Ramadhan on official rates.
In this connection, whatsapp group has also been created by office of commissioner so as to remain in touch with deputy commissioners and other officials of district administrations. He paid various visits to different parts of districts including central, South Keamari and east to review arrangements for bachat bazaars and price checking activities being undertaken by district administration officials.
During his visit to district central, he ordered officials to personally supervise sale of food items at official prices to provide relief to common men.
He went around different areas of district including North Karachi market, Hadi Market Nazimabad, Dakkhana Liaqatabad, Haidery, Landi Kotal and North Nazimabad.
Commissioner has established complaint centre at his office. Citizens have been advised to make their complaint against violators of official's prices at 021-99203443 and 021-99205645.
