Commissioner, CEO KWSC visit S-III Sewage Treatment Plant TP-III Maripur

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Ali Naqvi along with CEO KWSC Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed visited S-III Sewage Treatment Plant TP-III Maripur and inspected project.

  COO KWSC Engineer Asadullah Khan, Project Director S3l-III Nizamuddin Shaikh Project Managers Waseem Akhtar Shaikh, Shiraz Shaikh, Abdul Ghaffar Shaikh, DPM S-III Pradeep Kumar, Project consultant Dr. Bashir Lakhani, contractor Irshad Hussain and senior officials were present. According to KWSC spokesperson, during visit, top officials made detailed inspection of inlet, outlet, overflow, discharge, screening system and pumping,  Dr. Bashir Lakhani and Irshad Hussain gave a detailed briefing to Commissioner Karachi and CEO KWSC regarding Sewage Treatment Plant TP-I Harunabad and TP-III Maripur project and said that 54 MGD of water is being treated from Sewage Treatment Plant TP-III and capacity of Sewage Treatment Plant TP-III will be increased from 54 MGD to 180 MGD, while work on Sewage Treatment Plant TP-I is ongoing and this project will treat 100 MGD of water, they said that Sindh government has released 3 billion rupees for S-III project this year and it has been assured to give 4 billion rupees for this project next year, they said that if funds are received soon, project will be completed on time, therefore, all funds should be provided immediately for early completion of project.  CEO KWSC said that main objective of project is to collect and treat wastewater falling into Lyari and Malir River and to improve environmental and sanitation situation of Karachi through strong system.  

Commissioner said that S-III project is an important need of city, therefore, there is an urgent need to complete project immediately, He instructed concerned authorities to take vigorous steps to complete the project soon and all resources should be utilized because treated water can be supplied to industries after completion of project while they will talk to Sindh government for the immediate provision of all funds for project?  Commissioner Karachi said that management of Water Corporation is working in better way on S-III project.
