Karachi: College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences at Ziauddin University held commencement day for batch of 2024. Event honoured students’ contributions and highlighted vital role they play in addressing country’s speech and hearing disorders. It welcomed new students to college and thanked their parents for inspiring them and their seemingly endless efforts.

In highlighting important role of Ziauddin University’s College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, Dr. Abdul Bari Khan chief guest and CEO of Indus Hospital and Health Network emphasised pressing need for qualified professionals in this specific field as every 1 out of 1,000 children are suffering from speech and hearing disorders.

He praised current and newly enrolled students in college, calling them “Future of this country and ray of hope for those suffering from these disabilities.”  Dr. Khan highlighted value of respecting parents and teachers as foundation for success.

Graduates were applauded by Pro Chancellor Dr. Nida Hussain for selecting career path that enables them to “Help community at large.” She brought attention to severe lack of speech pathology trainees in Pakistan and expressed gratitude for partnership with Speech and Hearing Association of Pakistan (SHAP).

Over 20 million Pakistanis struggle with speech and hearing disorders, while resources to address this challenge remain limited, stated Dr. Sumaira Imran Faruqi, Dean Faculty of Allied Sciences. She highlighted critical situation and urged students to rise to this issue and be change that nation requires.

Ceremony featured various highlights, including presentation of annual college report by Principal College, Amna Asif Siddiqui and distribution of academic excellence certificates and diplomas to students and faculty members as token of appreciation.

Ziauddin University’s College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences stands as beacon of hope, nurturing dedicated professionals who will make tangible difference in lives of millions of Pakistanis battling hearing and speech challenges.
