Nawabshah: At least seven people died and 42 sustained injuries in head-on collision between two passenger coaches on Mehran Highway near Nawabshah in Sindh, officials said.

Benazirabad Deputy Inspector General of Police Muhammad Younis Chandio confirmed death toll. Injured, he said were being treated at Peoples’ University of Medical and Health Sciences.

According to DIGP, accident took place on Daur Bandhi Road little after 4am today when two passenger buses coming from Karachi and Peshawar collided with each other. Chandio said collision occurred because of high speed of vehicles. He added that Mehran Highway was closed for traffic after accident and vehicles were diverted towards National Highway.

In February, at least 13 people were killed while more than 20 were injured when speeding jeep rammed into two other vehicles on Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M-5).
