Karachi: In display of precision and strategic prowess, General Syed Asim Munir Chief of Army Staff (COAS) observed firing of various Air Defence weapon systems during Exercise Al-Bayza-III, 2024, in Sonmiani.

Exercise showcased integrated fire and battle maneuvers of Army Air Defence systems, marking landmark achievement in bolstering Air Defence capabilities of Pakistan’s aerial frontiers, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in statement.

COAS witnessed live demonstration of High to Medium Air Defence Weapons System (HIMADS), Low to Medium Air Defence System (LOMAD), Short Range Air Defence System (SHORADs) and Extended Short Range Air Defence System (ESHORADs).

Notably, HIMAD system achieved significant milestone by successfully engaging targets at maximum ranges, showcasing its efficacy in nation’s defence strategy.

Expressing his appreciation for remarkable achievement, General Munir commended precision with which targets were engaged and operational readiness displayed by Corps of Army Air Defence.

Successful integration of layered weapon systems demonstrated military’s commitment to staying at forefront of technological advancements in national security.

During interactions with officers and troops, COAS highlighted ongoing modernisation efforts within armed forces.

He pointed out that these enhancements are tailored to meet specific requirements of Pakistan, aiming to deter potential threats and ensure robust response to any challenges that may arise.

Exercise was attended by Corps Commander Karachi, Commander Army Air Defence, Inspector General Training and Evaluation and Inspector General Arms, all of whom witnessed strategic maneuvers firsthand.

Their presence underscored collective commitment to maintaining highest standards of preparedness and excellence within armed forces. Before exercise, Gen Munir visited Army Air Defence Center, where he paid homage to martyrs of Armed Forces by laying floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.

As symbol of recognition for outstanding leadership, he installed Lieutenant General Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, HI (M), as Colonel Commandant of Army Air Defence Corps.
