COAS visits SWaziristan, mingles with troops

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir vowed to fight for sustainable peace in Pakistan. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS visited frontier posts in South Waziristan where he paid homage to martyrs by laying floral wreaths at their memorials in Wanna, followed by visit to formation headquarters where he was briefed on training and operational and security preparedness along with ongoing developmental projects in district.
During his address to troops, COAS commended that their efforts for providing an environment that enabled socio-economic progress in region. He reiterated Army’s commitment to fighting against terrorism and assured that blood of martyrs would not go in vain.
Chief stressed importance of harmony among different state institutions and role of public in war against terrorism. He was briefed about operational, training and security matters of formation.
Top commander was also updated on progress of development works being undertaken in newly merged districts. Gen Munir appreciated counter-terrorism efforts of formation and provision of an enabling environment for completion of socio-economic development projects, which are vital for enduring stability and sustainable progress of NMDs.
Highlighting importance of synergy between various institutions, Gen Munir also emphasised critical role of people of Pakistan in collective fight against terrorism.
