COAS reaffirms resolve to ‘bear a hand’ with govt for economic stability

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir in meeting with Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar reaffirmed Armed Forces resolve to fully endorse all such measures aimed at long-term and sustainable recovery of country’s economy.

The army chief reassured the army's resolve during the 7th meeting of the Special Investment Facilitation Council's (SIFC) Apex Committee meeting, chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, to review various initiatives being led through the forum.

 According to sources of PM House, matters related to national and internal security have been discussed in meeting. Caretaker PM has expressed satisfaction over success achieved in ongoing intelligence based operations (IBOs) in various cities of country to eradicate terrorism and paid tribute to martyrs of Pakistan Army. He said that sacrifices that security forces and Pakistan Army are making for defense of homeland and eradication of terrorism will not go in vain.

Army Chief has also taken interim Prime Minister into confidence on ongoing operations regarding evacuation of illegal immigrants and on which PM expressed his satisfaction. Interim PM Kakar said that Pakistan will take all steps to protect its security and borders.  Situation of security in region and other matters were also discussed in meeting.

The meeting, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), was attended by members of the federal Cabinet, provincial chief ministers, and various high-level government officials.
