COAS Munir holds meeting with Saudi Crown Prince, performs Umrah

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir met Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, at his winter camp in Saudi city of ‘AlUla’.

 According to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), during meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, in addition to number of issues of common concern. SPA also shared pictures of Crown Prince’s reception for Army Chief at his winter camp in city of AlUla. Reception was attended by Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Defense and Dr Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of State, member of Cabinet and National Security Adviser. Reception was also attended by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ameer Khurram and number of Pakistani officials.  Army Chief is on an official visit to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates from January 4. He is expected to return to Pakistan on January 10.

This was reported by state-run Saudi Press Agency. Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman and other officials of kingdom and Pakistan were also present in meeting. During meeting, Saudi premier felicitated Munir on becoming Pakistan Army Chief According to Saudi media reports, Army Chief also performed umrah where doors of Kaaba were opened for him in display of extraordinary hospitality.  

In video posted on Instagram, Army Chief can be seen walking out of Holy Kaaba with some other people. Army Chief also offered prayers inside Holy Kaaba.
