COAS General Asim, Azerbaijan CGS discuss bilateral defense matters

ISLAMABAD: In significant development highlighting strengthening ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of General Staff of Azerbaijan Colonel General Valiyev Karim Tofig Oglu held crucial meeting with Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir.

Meeting which took place here, focused on bilateral defense and security cooperation between two nations. Public Relations Department of Pakistan Army (ISPR) stated that discussions primarily revolved around enhancing mutual cooperation in military and professional affairs. Both General Valiyev and General Munir expressed their commitment to deepening existing defense collaboration between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Recognising shared challenges faced by two countries, military leaders underscored importance of close cooperation in tackling common security threats.

Meeting further emphasised need to exchange expertise and experiences in various domains of defense and security. It was agreed upon that through enhanced cooperation, armed forces of Pakistan and Azerbaijan can benefit from each other’s strengths and contribute to their respective defense capabilities. Colonel General Valiyev’s visit to Pakistan holds great significance as it signifies growing bilateral relations and mutual desire to foster stronger defense ties.

Interaction between high-ranking officials from defense establishments of both countries is expected to pave way for increased collaboration in areas such as joint military exercises, intelligence sharing and defense industry cooperation. Willingness to share knowledge, resources and strategies will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening defense capabilities of both nations and ensuring regional stability.

As discussions concluded, both military leaders expressed optimism about future trajectory of defense collaboration and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing shared goals of peace, security and stability in region.
