KARACHI: Interim Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar constituted fact-finding inquiry committee to probe into alleged manipulation of Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) results causing an abrupt decline in passing percentage of students of Class-XI.
Fact-finding committee shall comprise VC NED Dr Sarosh Lodhi (convener), Executive Director IBA Karachi Dr Akbar Zaidi and Secretary HEC Moinuddin Siddiqui and co-opt members.
Committee would probe into matter regarding alleged manipulation of results and would also fix responsibilities against delinquent officers/officials involved, if any, and propose recommendations in this regard. Committee has been instructed to submit its report within 15 days.
Fate of thousands of students hangs in balance after announcement of allegedly disputed results. Over past two weeks, students and parents have taken to streets in protest after majority of students failed in BIEK’s first-year results. Top officials in Sindh seem to be at odds over contentious results.
