LAHORE: (PPI) Punjab caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi Wednesday ordered to ensure immediate arrest of the miscreants involved in the violent protests of May 9.He issued these orders while chairing a meeting at Circuit House Gujranwala where he was briefed about the law and order situation and the legal proceedings against the miscreants. “Indiscriminate crackdown should be continued against the miscreants and their facilitators. Every criminal involved in terrorist incidents will be put behind bars. The process of investigation and prosecution should be carried forward in an efficient manner,” Mohsin Naqvi said. “Gujranwala will be linked to Sialkot Motorway through Benazir Road. The meeting also considered plans for a Burn Unit in New Teaching Hospital and a university over 1,000-Kanal land near Morr Aimanabad.

It gave approval to Wazirabad Bypass and decided to reconstruct GT Road from Chan da Qila to Aziz Cross. “The ongoing work on Gujranwala to Hafizabad and Gujranwala to Sheikhupura road will be completed soon,” Mohsin Naqvi said.

 “The work on Muridke to Kartarpur and Alipur Chattha to Hafizabad road will be completed,” he added and directed to complete the public welfare projects within the stipulated period. Senior police officers of Punjab police and other officers concerned attended the meeting. Meanwhile, the chief minister approved several decisions in a meeting of the governing body of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

 The CM reviewed the amendments to Building and Zones Regulations and approved a Rs2 billion investment in the Bank of Punjab through Term Finance Certificates. He also approved amendments to LDA Regulation 1978 for Appointment and Employment and directed to pay the money for the land taken by the LDA according to the market rate.

“Compensation is the right of the people from whom the land has been taken,” he said and directed immediate payment to the affected party on the court order.

 The meeting decided to entrust LDA Auction Committee with the authority to auction the shops of Park and Ride Plaza Liberty. It also approved the revised plan for the construction of a flyover at Akbar Chowk and reexamined the four-lane Ravi Ravi Bridge project.

The meeting also approved hiring a marketing consultant or transaction advisor for the LDA projects, appointing an environmental consultant and heat management officer, and reviewing the allotment of land for setting up petrol pumps at transportation terminal sites. The officers concerned had attended the meeting.
