CM Naqvi okays construction of another cardiac hospital in Lahore

LAHORE: Taking notice of issues confronting patients and their attendants at Lahore's Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) due to overcrowding, Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi approved construction of yet another large hospital for heart patients in city.
Now Jinnah Institute of Cardiology will be built on site reserved for construction of Jinnah Hospital's Emergency and Trauma Center adjacent to Jinnah Hospital. As per instructions CM gave during his visit to project site, centre will now be housed in Jinnah Hospital.
Chief Minister ordered laying down foundation of cardiology institute by mid of next month. He was briefed by secretary construction and communications on occasion that institute, which would be second largest hospital for heart patients in provincial capital after PIC, would be seven-storey building and there would be 250 beds in it. Provincial ministers Dr. Javed Akram, Amir Mir, secretaries health, special secretary health, Allama Iqbal Medical Hospital principal, MS Jinnah Hospital and other officials were also present.
