LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi presided over 7th meeting of Punjab Environment Protection Council in which he gave nod to Punjab Clean Air Policy.

Meeting approved comprehensive action plans of Department of Transport, Agriculture, Industry, Environment, Local Government, Housing, Urban Development, Energy, Labour and related departments under Punjab Clean Air Policy.

Moreover, meeting decided that concerned departments will prepare detailed working plan for implementation of Punjab Clean Air Policy whereas Punjab Government will implement Punjab Clean Air Policy and Action Plan with assistance from World Bank.

Similarly, Punjab Plastic Management Strategy was also approved in meeting.  Modern technology will be introduced for recycling and reuse of plastic and relevant department will also receive incentives in this regard.

Capacity of concerned departments will be increased and robust awareness campaign will be carried out. Secretary Environment gave briefing about important features of Punjab Clean Air Policy and Punjab Plastic Management Strategy.

Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Environment, Planning and Development Board, Irrigation, Specialized Health and Medical Education, Primary and Secondary Health, Housing, Industry, Forest, Local Government, DG Environment Protection Authority Punjab and officials attended meeting.
