KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reiterated his stance that Pakistan Peoples’ Party being single largest party emerged in Local Body elections in Karachi will take over slot of mayor by setting aside cries and claims of ‘self-claimant’.

Talking to media at KMC Mega Sports event organised at Fuwara Chowk accompanied by Governor Tessori, Minister Information Sharjeel Memon, Advisor law Murtaza Wahab and others CM said that it was loud and clear that PPP would bag slot of Mayor. “We are majority party and our candidate for slot of mayor would easily be elected by KMC council,” he said.

Jamaat Islami’s candidate Naeem Rehman claims have no weight as cries and allegations have no foundation and would prove to be bubbles of hot air.   CM urged Election Commission to expedite process of conducting election on LB seats where it had been postponed and declare results of seats which have been challenged or withheld so that final round of election for seats of chairmen and mayors could be finalised.

On census, he said that objections his government and party had raised during census of 2017 have proved to be valid and genuine now.

He said that if reservations raised by people of province were not addressed his government would have no option but to withdraw support it has extended to Bureau of Statistics for conducting ongoing census process. CM said that he has urged census authorities to share copy of data/enumeration of family with concerned family members.

Data being collected by Bureau of Census should be given directly to NADRA so that they can issue CNIC/B-forms to nationals and also make data of foreigners living here.

We want them to count everyone and share copy, hard or digital with concerned family members and also give access to concerned family and provincial government to data being collected on regular basis.

He said that we would have to make proper system of birth and death counts accurately.

Shah pointed out that old or inaccurate maps have been uploaded to Tablets given to enumerators for recording enumeration digitally.

CM demanded Bureau of Statistics to inform enumerated families/persons through SMS that they have been counted and their family members’ number stands at so and so. Shah congratulated winners of KMC mega spots donkey cart race and distributed prizes.
