CM Murad oversee development works in ‘surprise visits’

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah toured different areas of city to personally inspect ongoing repairs and reconstruction of roads, sewers and storm-water drains damaged by recent heavy monsoon rains.
On CM’s directives, 25 projects of patchwork of roads and repairs of sewerage lines and storm-water drains were initiated on September 16 with a completion timeframe of 45 days. “I have to see progress therefore, I pay surprise visits to areas where development works are ongoing,” Shah told his local government minister Nasir Shah who, along with cabinet members Saeed Ghani, Sharjeel Memon, Waqar Mahdi and Secretary Local Govt Najam Shah, accompanied CM during city tour.
CM and his cabinet members drove through Shahrah-e-Liaquat, District South, where work on improvement and repairs of a road and a storm-water drain was in progress.
Nasir Shah, while briefing chief minister said that KMC has started work at a cost of Rs 230 million which would be completed within specified timeframe. He added that a 2.5km portion of road was being reconstructed besides cleaning of nullah. As much as 90 percent work has already been completed. CM then drove to Chakiwara where Nasir Shah told him that rehabilitation of Chakiwara Road, Lyari was undertaken on February 22 and it would be completed by June 2023. This scheme has been launched under Karachi mega projects.
On way, chief minister had a brief stopover at PPP Central Office in Lyari where workers had gathered to receive him.
Shah also visited area around Aath Chowk where repairs and maintenance of damaged roads were in progress. Shah directed local government minister to ensure high quality, so that rainwater could easily be disposed of.
