KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah directed Public Health Department to prepare ‘comprehensive’ scheme to convert non-functional RO plants to solar energy.

Presiding over joint meeting of different departments, Murad was informed that some RO plants are not functioning due to technical issues or for want of electricity.

He directed to incorporate schemes in upcoming budget so that non-functional RO plants could be operationalised by repairing and converting them into solar energy.

CM said that he had received numerous complaints during meeting against non-functioning of RO plants installed in various villages.

Secretary PHE Sohail Qureshi told CM that in March, they repaired and functionalised 140 RO plants in various districts including 26 in villages of Badin, seven in Sujawal, 10 in Matiari, three in Jamshoro, eight in Karachi, nine in Mirpurkhas, 10 in Tharparkar and 10 in Tando Allahyar.

CM directed Energy Department to approach Hyderabad Electric Supply Corporation and Sukkur Electric Supply Corporation authorities to ask them not to resort to prolonged load shedding during sweltering weather.

He directed local government department to complete transition period of local councils, which is still in progress so that elected people can serve people of their respective areas.

CM directed Local Government Secretary to complete transition at once and hand over powers to elected representatives so that they could serve their people.
