CM Murad approves Rs1.6bn Sindh Toll Plaza Surveillance project

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presiding over meeting at CM House approved Rs 1.6 billion Sindh Toll Plaza Surveillance project to enhance security at entry points to Sindh through installation of CCTV Cameras on 40 Toll-Plazas.
IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, Home Secretary Saeed Mangnijo, PSCM Fayaz Jatoi, Adl IG (Investigation) Munir Shaikh, Secretary Finance Sajid Jamal Abro and other concerned officers attended.
CM said that there was dire need to enhance security at entry points to province. He added that province has 40 Toll Plazas where high-definition CCTV cameras should be installed to ensure proper monitoring.
IG Police Ghulam Nabi Memon told CM that his department had prepared Rs 1.56 billion Sindh Toll Plaza Surveillance Project. He added that CCTV Cameras would have Full-frame and Automatic Number Plate Recognition capabilities with centralised monitoring and alert system for blacklisted vehicles and criminals. CM after discussion approved scheme and directed IG police to launch project at earliest.
Meeting discussed granting Investigation Allowance to Investigators. CM said that plan was to incentivise investigators so that they make proper investigations of cases and win them in court of law.
“I want to give an investigation allowance to investigators, he said. At this, Home Secretary Saeed Mangnijo said that scheme was prepared and sent to Finance department. CM directed Secretary Finance to dispose of scheme and send him for approval.
IG Police said that with approval of CM Rs 2.7 billion scheme for purchase of sophisticated field weapons and surveillance equipment was prepared and sent to finance department.
Another matter that came under discussion in meeting was expansion of Rapid Response Force (RRF) and establishment of Crowd Management Unit.
Chief Sinister directed finance department to speed up redesignation of posts so that necessary transfers/postings for expansion of RRF and operationalisation of Crowd Management Unit could be made.
