CM Maryam wants timely completion of road, health projects

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has set a strict deadline for the completion of road rehabilitation and health centre upgrades across the province.
She has directed that all road repair and construction projects be finished by the end of the fiscal year, while the first phase of health centre renovations must be completed by 30 June. During a special meeting, Maryam Nawaz reviewed progress on road and health development projects and instructed the Planning and Development Department to generate additional resources. According to officials, under the road rehabilitation programme, 462 projects have been approved, with work initiated on 455. Over 25 percent of the work in the first phase has already been completed. In the second phase, 72 schemes were approved, with work started on 67, achieving 24% completion so far. The review also covered the restoration of 1,236 basic health units across Punjab. Authorities reported that 75 percent of the work has been completed, with 54 units fully restored and 1,164 nearing completion. Key tasks such as plastering, flooring, and finishing are progressing across multiple sites. Maryam Nawaz emphasised that improved road connectivity will benefit millions and boost economic activities, particularly in rural areas.
