CM Maryam visits Kot Lakhpat Jail, inaugurates hospital

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz broke her fast with women inmates at Central Jail Kot Lakhpat, Lahore and inaugurated video calling centre and specialised 20-bed hospital within premises.

Responding to her directives, diverse iftar menu was meticulously prepared, featuring traditional favorites such as biryani, samosas, pakoras, along with fruits and yogurt, enhancing spirit of communal dining amidst incarcerated community.

During her visit, Punjab CM personally served prisoners, engaging with them in heartfelt conversations, while also conducting thorough inspection of prison kitchen to ensure quality of food served to inmates. She visited cell where her father, Nawaz Sharif, was previously confined, reflecting on challenges faced during that time.

CM interacted with prisoners, addressing their grievances and taking note of their needs, reaffirming her commitment to prison reform and rehabilitation efforts.

Punjab administrator also inaugurated video call facility for prisoners, marking Central Jail Lahore as pioneer in providing such service.

She planted sapling on jail’s lawn, emphasising importance of greenery and directing further tree plantation initiatives within premises.

Maryam Nawaz distributed gifts among released inmates, underscoring government’s efforts towards social welfare and rehabilitation.
