LAHORE: Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has signed summary for dissolution of Punjab Assembly day after he obtained vote of confidence from Punjab Assembly amid ruckus and opposition’s boycott following weeks of political turbulence in province.

Decision to dissolve Assembly had been taken in a meeting between Chief Minister Elahi and PTI Chairman Imran Khan held at Zaman Park, where senior party leaders were also present.

Speaking to media here, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that Punjab CM has signed summary asking Governor to dissolve Punjab Assembly.  PTI leader said that advice has been sent to Punjab Governor. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly will also be dissolved with Punjab Assembly.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan had completed consultation with party leadership and Punjab Assembly and decided to dissolve Punjab Assembly.

Sources privy to development said that PTI leadership had rejected suggestion to delay dissolution of provincial assembly till February and instead Assembly could be dissolved tonight.
