Clean and Green drive in Central District on WED planned: DC Taha Saleem

Karachi: On World Environment Day (WED), Deputy Commissioner and Administrator District Central Taha Saleem announced launch of special ten-day clean and green campaign in District. He informed journalists about aims and objectives of campaign in press conference. Municipal Commissioner Shamoona Sadaf, Central Municipality officers, representatives of organisations working against environmental pollution including representatives of print and electronic media were present.

Taha Saleem said that environmental pollution is global issue in which everyone has to work together. Providing details to media representatives he said that special aspect of clean and green campaign is to involve students for spreading awareness about environmental pollution. During campaign, thousands of saplings will be planted in all zones of District while every possible effort will be taken to make District transparent by improving sanitation issues. Describing use of plastic bags and shoppers as harmful to environment, he appealed to public, shopkeepers, entrepreneurs and industrialists to contribute to improving their urban environment by paying attention to gradual elimination of use of plastic bags.
