Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi has called a full court meeting for October 28 (Monday). Additionally, he will preside over a session of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on November 8 and has summoned a meeting of the administrative judges of the anti-terrorism courts for November 7.

Earlier on Saturday, the Supreme Court’s Practice and Procedure Committee was reconstituted. CJP Yahya Afridi will lead this committee, as confirmed by a notification from the Supreme Court Registrar. Justice Munib Akhtar has returned as a member, and Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah is also part of the three-judge committee.

Former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa had previously removed Justice Munib Akhtar from the committee, replacing him with Justice Aminuddin Khan. This reconstitution follows amendments to the Supreme Court Practice and Procedure Act 2023, which empower the chief justice to select committee members.

CJP Yahya Afridi has also announced that Supreme Court proceedings will be accessible to the public via live streaming. This service will be available in all courtrooms, subject to the consent of the parties involved and will ensure confidentiality for female litigants.
