CJP orders for withdrawing notice issued to journalists by FIA

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa has ordered for immediately withdrawing notices issued by FIA to journalists and Youtubers. CJP gave this order during hearing of suo motu notice case in Supreme Court on notices issued by FIA to journalists and Youtubers here.
Court while issuing order of hearing has sought report on action taken in regard to violence against Asad Toor, Mati Ullah Jan, Imran Shafqat and Amir Mir.
Court has said in its order that it should be told what progress has been made so far in cases. Court was informed accused related to sensitive agency of federal government. Investigation officer should ensure that journalists were informed about notices issued by FIA. It was told that notices were issued for criticizing court. Criticising is right of every citizen and journalist. If matter is upto criticism then no action be taken against any one. Attorney General assured on behalf of government for not taking any action against journalists due to criticism. Court ordered that no action be taken against journalists. Court directed DG FIA to meet journalists. CJP stopped quarters concerned from registering case against journalists. AG will give affidavit on behalf of government no one will be arrested on criticism. Constitution allows criticism. Court inquired from FIA why journalists have been summoned. Three-member bench of SC presided over by CJP Qazi Faez Isa took up for hearing suomotu notice case related to harassing journalists. Hearing of case was adjourned till today.
