ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial has ordered for immediate audit of Gun and Country Club.  CJP remarked club is national asset and we want to provide protection only to it. Government should complete process of legislation as soon as possible and take over charge of Club. A 3-member bench of SC presided over by CJP took up matter for hearing.

Additional Attorney General told court that details of arms are not being provided by Gun Club. Sitting committee is not getting accounts audited.  Naeem Bukhari member committee told court that appointments of Faisal Sakhi Butt, Daniyal Aziz and Khurram Khan were made on political basis in previous tenures. Internal audit of Club is conducted every year. Committee is prepared to make payment of Rs 180 million to CDA.

CJP remarked one member of bench does not want to hear case. Allegations are being leveled from both sides. Expenses to tune of Rs 4.16 lac were incurred on serving tea in one meeting of secretary IPC who is chairman of committee as well. In SC meetings we arrange our meals on our own expenses. It is learnt no tea and biscuit were served in meetings of Quaid-e-Azam.

Court while ordering to complete audit of Gun and Country Club for period from December 2, 2019 to June 20, 2022 as soon as possible maintained that competent authority should decide about matters of land on lease between Gun Club and CDA and payment of Rs 1,800 million. We will do nothing. Hearing of case was adjourned till February 2023.
