ISLAMABAD: “Good to see you all, my friends,” Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial warmly greeted lawyers during his final case in the Supreme Court (SC).
Lawyer Mian Bilal shared a nostalgic moment, reminiscing that he appeared before the CJP during his early days in the high court and now on his last day in the SC. The CJP acknowledged the sentiment but noted that the case had become in-fructuous.
In a light-hearted exchange, Bilal decided to present his arguments, prompting the CJP to quote Ghalib, saying, “To keep the heart happy, this thought is good.” Bilal appreciated the CJP’s patience in hearing their cases over the years.
CJP Bandial expressed gratitude to the legal community, emphasizing that it’s their duty to patiently listen to everyone. He praised the Bar for its cooperation and shared that judges consider themselves part of the Bar, highlighting the close relationship.
