ISLAMABAD: A meeting was held between Supreme Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Qazi Faez Isa.

According to Supreme Court sources, Justice Umar Ata Bandial and Justice Qazi Faez Isa met shortly before iftar.

Meeting between two honourable judges of Supreme Court continued for long time in pleasant atmosphere, it is said. Sources further informed that explanatory statement of Justice Isa was also issued in consultation with Chief Justice Bandial.

Two respected judges had detailed discussion on important issues as well. It is to be recalled that senior judge of Supreme Court Justice Qazi Faez Isa said while addressing to Parliament on Monday that apex court stood with country’s Constitution.

He expressed this opinion during his address at national constitutional convention at National Assembly hall at an event marked to attend golden jubilee of Constitution of Pakistan.

He assured National Assembly participants that he and his institution would support constitutional process.

Meanwhile, in backdrop of addressing NA session last day, in his clarification senior judge said he had inquired about nature of event prior to accepting invitation and that assurances were given that there would be no political speeches and only Constitution and its making would be discussed. Programme sent to him also confirmed these conditions, he said.

Justice Qazi Faez Isa is facing criticism from various quarters for his extraordinary move to attend parliament on the golden jubilee of the 1973 Constitution, but the senior judge justified his action by saying that the event was held to commemorate an important day in the country’s history.
