Citizens will be rewarded for bold actions: IGP Sindh

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon said that promoting concept of community policing is need of hour as it can make responsive governance at district and zonal/police range level more integrated and effective. Community policing could be used as an effective weapon against crimes and criminal elements, under which citizens’ bold actions against crimes and strengthening their morale have become a necessity, said Memon in a statement. IGP Sindh said that in first phase, it was under consideration to connect all private CCTV cameras installed in city with Madadgar-15 system and this initiative would be implemented soon.

He said that by making measures like promotion of community policing at all levels, counter strategies and action plan regarding crimes and effective police action against robberies should also be made successful and productive. He said that real success against crimes depends on coordinated and concrete police actions and also on first report that citizens individually or collectively give to relevant police against crime. He said that citizens would not only be appreciated for their bold actions against crimes and sharing crime-related details with police, but they would also be given certificates of appreciation along with cash rewards. IGP appealed to public to shift citizens injured in various incidents to the nearest hospitals for timely medical assistance. Moreover, he said that for sure success against crimes, all possible cooperation should be taken from police without any fear or hesitation.  IGP said that he would provide all possible cooperation to citizens approaching police against crimes.
