Citizens feeling insecure to street crimes in city, armed robberies unabated: CAP Chief

Karachi: Citizens are feeling insecure due to street crimes, armed robberies and looting in city. Kaukab Iqbal Chairman of Consumer Association of Pakistan (CAP) said that breadwinners of many families have lost lives in robberies. Economic condition of countless families has become extremely worse and perpetrators of crimes are roaming freely.
Presiding over a meeting to review increasing crime in city he said that citizen who wants to get an arm license for his own protection should be issued an license by government and those who have arm license should protect themselves and their families.
They should be encouraged to use arms for protection under increasing incidents of robbery without control. Citizens should not start acting on kill-or-die formula, because when feeling of insecurity starts to increase, many factors start to arise so it is necessary that Sindh Police along with Rangers should fulfill their responsibilities.
Kaukab Iqbal said that Mohalla Associations should play their role with help of police. Buyers are panicky visiting markets for buying in season of weddings. He said that Sector Commanders of Rangers and SSPs should set up open kachehri in their respective areas so that they can know about incidents in timely manner. There is a need to make system of 15 effective, additional police personnel should be posted in different areas.
Number of crimes are on increase, SHOs should be replaced immediately in case of increasing number of crimes in their areas. Vicinities should be allowed to put up gates for security while entry and exit lanes should be marked so that illegal activities can be detected. If law will be strong and punishments will be quick, then surely criminals involved in incidents will desist their wrongdoings. He said trust and confidence will build when their will be close police-citizens friendly coordination. He said that increasing crimes not only affecting economy but shedding confidence of citizens towards administration. It does not take time for a civilised society to become secular so it is important to restore sense of security among citizens.
