Chinese Premier Li reaches Pakistan on four-day visit

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Pakistan on four-day bilateral visit, during which he will also attend high-profile Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, scheduled for October 15 and 16.
Chinese PM was received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon his arrival and welcomed with 21-gun salute. PM Li Qiang was accompanied by ministers and senior officials including those from ministries of foreign affairs and commerce, National Development and Reform Commission and China International Development Cooperation Agency. This is first visit of any Chinese premier to Pakistan after 11 years.
Clad in traditional Pakistani dresses, two children presented bouquets to dignitary as a 21-gun salute in backdrop heralded his arrival. Static guards of Pakistan’s armed forces presented salute to dignitary.
Later, Chinese premier met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at PM House where guard of honour was given to him at formal welcome ceremony.
PM Shehbaz and Premier Li will lead their respective delegations to comprehensively discuss all aspects of Pakistan-China relations including economic and trade ties and cooperation under China Pakistan Economic Cooperation.
SCO meeting will discuss ongoing cooperation in fields of economy, trade, environment, socio-cultural linkages and review performance of Organisation.
