Chinese, Afghan FMs in Islamabad to attend trilateral dialogue

Islamabad: Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s and acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Islamabad on official visits at invitation of Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
This is Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang’s first official visit to Pakistan since assuming office. Besides bilateral meetings, Chinese foreign minister will participate in 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue scheduled to be held today.
Both FM Bilawal and his Chinese counterpart will co-chair 4th round of Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue.
Strategic dialogue is structured mechanism that reviews bilateral cooperation in key areas. Two sides will reaffirm abiding vitality of all-weather strategic cooperative partnership; develop roadmap for multidimensional cooperation between Pakistan and China and discuss evolving regional and global landscape.
Meanwhile, acting Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi also arrived in country on four-day official visit. According to Foreign Office spokesperson, Muttaqi will lead high-level delegation, which includes acting Afghan Minister for Commerce and Industry Haji Nooruddin Azizi and senior officials from Afghan Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Transport and Trade.
Apart from holding bilateral meetings, minister will also participate in 5th China-Pakistan-Afghanistan Trilateral Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue.
Visit of acting Afghan Foreign Minister is continuation of Pakistan’s political engagement process with Afghanistan.
Pakistan is desirous of peaceful, prosperous, stable and connected Afghanistan and reiterates its commitment to pursue continuous and practical engagement with interim Afghan government.
