China says helping Pakistan in economic difficulties is ‘priority’

Islamabad: China stated that it was cognisant of Pakistan’s economic difficulties and that it was its “Priority” to help “All-weather friend”. This was stated by visiting State Councillor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peoples’ Republic of China Qin Gang, who along with members of his delegation called on President Dr Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sun Weidong and senior government officials of Pakistan and China, according to statement from President’s Secretariat. Both countries reaffirmed resolve to work together for promoting regional peace and prosperity as well as jointly cope with external challenges. Statement said that both sides emphasised need to further advance and deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of trade, economy, culture and defence for mutual benefit of two countries. Two sides also called for increasing bilateral exchanges, people-to-people contacts and cooperation in fields of culture and tourism to further cement bilateral ties, it added.
President said that Pakistan-China relations were rooted in mutual trust, understanding, goodwill and both sides firmly supported each other on core issues. He highlighted that Pakistan-China mutual cooperation was assuming an even greater significance in light of new developments taking place in regional and international arenas.
