Karachi: Leader Pakistan Peoples’ Party Shazia Marri criticised Chief Justice of Pakistan during National Assembly session, stating that Supreme Court cannot take any action against supremacy of Parliament.
She emphasised that government did not come to fight, but rather to defend Parliament.
Marri stated that as Member of Parliament, she was responsible for protection of Constitution of Pakistan. Marri spoke about recent audio leaks in which son of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar was heard collecting money in his father’s name.
She questioned how former chief justice could allow such behaviour and raised concerns about what same son may have done during his father’s tenure as Chief Justice.
Marri stated that Parliament was supreme institution under Constitution and that judges should speak with their decisions, rather than interfere in proceedings of Parliament and stated that Supreme Court could not take any action against supremacy of Parliament. She called on Chief Justice of Pakistan to respect his position and authority.
