Chief Justice being targeted for long, state won’t allow murder fatwas: Kh Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that Chief Justice of Pakistan was being targeted for long time, adding that state will not allow anyone to issue murder fatwas.
During press conference with Minister Ahsan Iqbal here, he said that group had launched very outrageous, baseless propaganda. “It won’t be enough, no matter how much propaganda is criticised,” he remarked. He said CJP was discussed lot, but it was repeatedly explained that he had nothing to do with any controversial decision or statement. Despite explanation of Supreme Court, propaganda based on lies continued. “Everyone knows why Chief Justice is being targeted,” he claimed. He said that extremist posts are being shared on social media, and attempts are being made for bloodshed in country in name of religion. “Westerners and those seeking political interests are adding fuel to this fire. State will take action on these issues and state will not allow anyone to issue fatwas calling for murder,” he declared. He said this is new chapter and new mischief against one who upholds tradition of rights and truth. “State will respond with full force to illegal actions and death threats.” He said Justice Isa was being targeted since Faizabad sit-in. “After Faizabad sit-in decision, reference was filed against Justice Isa. He gave constitutional and legal decision regarding sit-in. Ahsan Iqbal said that foundation of faith of Muslims is end of Prophethood, adding that no group is allowed to issue murder fatwas.
“Revolt against Constitution was announced by releasing video against Chief Justice. Judiciary is main pillar of state,” he remarked. He said that no one had authority to decide faith of others, adding that incidents that happened to minorities in Pakistan caused shame all over world.
