Chehlum processions brought out across country including Karachi

Karachi: Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA)’s chehlum processions were brought out in city and elsewhere across country. Mourning processions were brought out in various cities and towns across country to pay homage to martyrs of Karbala. In Karachi, main procession was brought out from Nishtar Park Guru Mandir and culminated at imambargah Hasina Iraniyan Kharadar.

Strict security arrangement were taken to thwart any untoward incident on routes of processions across country, security officials informed.

Thoroughfares leading to processions were blocked with containers and CCTV camera surveillance was in place. Shops along procession routes have also been officially closed. To bolster safety measures, bomb disposal squad swept procession’s path. Police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies remained alert during session.

Only vehicles with special passes were granted access to procession route and MA Jinnah Road in Karachi remained closed to general traffic. Meanwhile, in Quetta, processions were brought out to pay homage to martyrs of Karbala. Security was tightened as 28 entrances to procession routes were blocked using trucks. Substantial police force of 3,500 officers was deployed, alongside 2,000 personnel from FC and Levies. Aerial surveillance was also be part of security measures. Mobile services were temporarily suspended and pillion riding was prohibited in specific police stations. Similarly in Lahore, Multan, Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Sialkot and other cities in Punjab, mourners brought out processions. Likewise mourners In Peshawar-KP, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Rohri, Nawabshah, Larkana, Ghotki, Kandkot, Benazirabad and other cities in Sindh also brought out processions to pay homage to Karbal martyrs.
