KARACHI: Lawyers for Maham Amjad daughter of deceased Muhammad Ahmad Amjad served legal notice to Shoaib Javed Hussain Chairman State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC) and others to provide related documents regarding investigation, departmental inquiry along with ECL record list in particular documents and court files applied for in between 2008-2010, within thirty days of receiving this notice, failing which, they have clear instructions initiation civil as well as criminal proceedings and all possible and necessary legal action(s) against them.
Maham's father was brutally murdered 14 years back on premises of State Life Insurance Corporation while on duty by an employee of State Life Syed Taqi Haider Shah. 43-year-old father of complainant-an 18-times Gold Medalist was at time acting in capacity of Regional Chief of Sindh and Balochistan when he was shot ten bullets by employee of State Life on August 26, 2008 in connivance with other persons. Accused subsequently flew from Pakistan and on January 29, 2010 non-bailable warrants were issued against him. Complainant sent emails to Chairman of State Life on October 4 and December 18, 2022 to probe into matter concerning her father's murder and carry out investigation along with releasing relevant documents since State Life was public functionary. However, thereafter State Life issued holding statement on social media duly authorised by Chairman, addressing complainant in which it was falsely stated that accused individual was investigated and terminated and his benefits and compensation were seized along with his name being placed on Exit Control List. However, when asked by TRTWorld a renowned media channel if internal investigation was carried out related to case and whether it was shared with deceased's family members, spokesperson for State Life stated that there was no need for departmental inquiry because case was dormant until arrest of accused.
According to lawyers on instructions of Lahore High Court, Speaking Order not in accordance with law was passed by Shoaib Javed Hussain, Chairman of State Life wherein it was stated that full support was extended by State Life to police in investigation of case. However, no police was ever called to crime scene so as to let murderer escape, letters of deceased confirming he was constantly receiving threats were concealed from police as well as deceased's family and family members of murderer were later offered jobs in State Life such that son of murderer was also given same designation as his father had in State Life before he committed murder. Wife of murderer was getting commissions. Even more, after murderer fled to UAE, he was visiting offices of State Life in UAE and selling policies. However, State Life never informed police of whereabouts of murderer. This was clear reflection of murderer being facilitated, show cause notice added.
