Chairman NAB has no powers to arrest after reference is filed: SC

ISLAMABAD: Justice Athar Minallah has remarked Chairman NAB has no powers to arrest after reference is filed. He further remarked tell us Chairman NAB can ask to arrest under what clause of NAB laws after reference is filed.  Interim bail plea of Ijaz Jakhrani, advisor to Chief Minister Sindh came up for hearing before a 4-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial. 

Munir A Malik counsel for petitioner during hearing of case said,”It is matter of pride for me I am appearing before learned judges. Additional documents have been filed in this case.

CJP remarked what is stance of NAB in this case. Accused is seeking bail before arrest. According to accused he received no money while staying on his post.  Munir Malik told court we have filed some documents in this matter in court.   ustice Athar Minallah remarked tell us under what clause of NAB laws, Chairman NAB can ask for making arrest after filing of reference. 

CJP while addressing to Munir Malik remarked “My learned friend has raised an appropriate question. You should satisfy us on this point. There is difficulty before us this too that amendments in NAB Law are challenge for us. Court adjourned hearing of bail before arrest plea till January 2023  on request of counsel for accused.
