LAHORE: Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) extended deadline of country’s seventh ongoing digital census to April 20 for second time, due to teachers’ shortage in government schools across Punjab, including Lahore, officials said.
Earlier, date was extended from April 10 to April 15. Teachers’ shortage has severely affected admission process in schools. Schools went empty at peak of academic session, especially for secondary level, because teachers were carrying out their national duty of conducting population census. Consequently, heads of schools demanded that teachers deputed on census be sent back.
